Mel Donaldson served in the US Navy as a young man. Upon his arrival home he became a successful businessman before working for Boeing for 20 years.

Although he enjoyed that job, it wasn’t where his heart was. Mel decided that he would start a new path as a Longshoreman. In the 1960s, he was registered and eventually became a steady man at terminal 5, CFS.

He absolutely loved working with the amazing people at the port. After 40 years of service he retired in 2002. He was a hard worker dedicated to the cause. He is well respected by the seniority and petitioners.
