Thurman Alvin Kendrick was born February 4, 1940 to the late Lonnie and JoAnna Kendrick in Little Rock Arkansas. They moved to Seattle, Washington when he was four years old. Thurman who was fondly called by his middle name Alvin, was preceded in death by his parents Lonnie and JoAnna Kendrick, sisters, Anna Duckworth, Dianna Kendrick and brother Al Kendrick, Sr.
Alvin graduated from Garfield High School in 1958. After graduation, he followed in his father’s footsteps as a Longshoreman in the ILWU Longshoremen’s Association.
He was also a dedicated member of the “Claude’s Breakfast Club”, formed in remembrance and honor of Claude Barrows. He loved the camaraderie shared with him and his “soul brothers.”
Alvin is survived by his loving wife, Lorease Kendrick, daughters Sherrell Bigham (Lawrence), Deirdre Mitchell (Bruce), and Debra Kendrick, grandchildren, Eileen Bigham (Ted), Shomari Anderson, and Aijoua Anderson, two sisters, Alberta Sayles and Vivian McClendon, a special goddaughter, Paula Terrill, and a host of relatives and friends.
He will be greatly missed by all.
