George Chester Lindquist
1912 - 2010
George Chester Lindquist (age 97) entered into rest on January 11, 2010 in Bellingham, WA. George was born on may 30, 1912 in Seattle, WA to George N. and Margaret (Mack) Lindquist. In 1914, he shook hands with Buffalo Bill at a parade in Seattle. In his teens, he was a cabin boy on a lumber ship, the four masted Commodore, sailing from Bellingham to Hawaii. During 1926-1952, he workded in both logging and longshoring and in 1952, joined the Longshoremen's Union.
George retired in 1974 and enjoyed over 30 years of retirement. He is survived by his son, Duane P. (Karen) Lindquist; three grandchildren, Duane Jr. (Monica), Alan (Paula), Lynn (Christopher) and a great grandson, Alan Jr.; cousin, Evelyn (Bill) Hammer and numerous other relatives. George is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and all his brothers; Vernon, Lew, Oscar, and Ralph Sr.
