Thorleif "Thor" Michalsen passed away 6-20-2014 at his home in Ballard. Born 12-4-1938 in Ketchikan , Alaska , when Alaska was still a territory. With his family he moved to Ballard in 1951. Thor graduated from Ballard High School in 1957 and went to the UW for 2 years before going in to the Army. Thor retired after 35 years from ILWU Local 52. He was a member of the Norwegian Commercial Club since 1985.

Thor is preceded by his parents, Trygve K. and Gertrude Sather Michalsen, sisters Johanna Close, Marie Hellyer, and brother Ivar Eines. Thor is survived by his wife, Sharon, sister Selma Snaring, and many nieces and nephews.
